Ruth Gleaning in Boaz' Fields

Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, “To whom does this young woman belong?” The servant who was in charge of the reapers answered, “She is the Moabite who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab. She said, ‘Please, let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the reapers.’” ~ Ruth 2:5-7 Ruth and Boaz met and later married, becoming the great-grandparents of Israel’s King David. A Moabitess, a non-Jew, played a key role in bringing Israel its greatest sovereign, and through the Davidic line also the Messiah! Above the main panel, we see an open book, with light from above shining through it. Joining this symbolism of the Bible and God’s light shining through it is the setting of what appear to be palm branches, echoing the kingship of Jesus. This window was placed by the Richard J. and Anna Kruse family. It appears by its style to have gone in at the same time the Wagner window went in just across the sanctuary from this one.
